Galway Wedding Band, The Wondertones are delighted to have won the 2018 Mrs2Be Brides' Choice Award for "Best Wedding Entertainment"! 

The Mrs2Be Brides' Choice Award are based on Real Wedding Reviews from Wedding Couples who had The Wondertones perform at their weddings in 2017. The finalists are then assessed by a Mrs2Be Judging Panel and then the awards are made.

Speaking from The Wondertones Studio in Tuam, band founder Dwayne Higgins is thrilled with the win... "The band have worked hard for the last 10 years as a dedicated, specialist wedding band. We have a lot of hard work put in to our wedding sets, music mix and overall show. Winning the Mrs2Be Brides' Choice Award is the icing on the cake. The band are thrilled with the win".

The Wondertones was started in 2008 by school-friends Dwayne Higgins and John Duggan. The original idea was to create a soulful, classy big-band with brass, piano, drums, bass and guitars. Eight (yes eight!) members make up The Wondertones. The big sound is complemented with 4-part male / female vocals. "We understood that vocals are the focal point of any band, and we were insistent on having a dedicated male & female vocal lead (Shane Kelly & Madeleine Fleming). Our singers are award winners and deliver show-stopping vocal performances, night after night. Additional vocals are provided by Louis Brennan and Brian Ansbro", clarifies Dwayne. 

Brass is provided as standard with Trumpet performed by Brian Ansbro and Sax played by Louis Brennan. Louis also sings, plays harmonica and tin whistle. Dwayne Higgins plays guitar, ukulele and controls the live sound and lights.

"All music is performed live, there are no backing tracks or trickery! We record all our own live audio and video. We have over 65 wedding videos on YouTube. This body of work gives any potential couple a real flavour of what we do".

Live drums (James Casserly), Piano (Steve Foley) and Bass (Mike Ansbro) are the backline and backbone of the band. Love is the cornerstone, with founding member John Duggan sailing off into the sunset and marrying Jen, our previous trumpet player and singer!
